NOV. 23-27. Day #14-#18

Let me try and get back on track! Sunday we went to a First Southern Baptist Church in Kingman and heard a good sermon. The members were very friendly and we had a nice time in the House of God! Home after we stopped to eat at a local favorite Calicos, good food and fast.. We spent the rest of the day just messing around the RV and relaxing.. Monday Donna did the laundry and I messed around the rig. We went on a mountain drive with Pacer in the afternoon. Had lunch at the local Steak House, good meal. Tuesday drove from Kingman to Historic 66 Seligman and then back on HWY 66. Very nice drive and great scenery. Stopped in town at Golden Corral for LaDin our Lunch and Dinner. We drove just over 190 miles. Wednesday we did house keeping as in shopping ect. We decided that we would not make the Grand Canyon trip from here and drive back to Williams AZ and spend a few days to see the Canyon from there. We tried to take Pacer to a park BUT the towns parks do not permit dogs.(Good reason not to live here)! We used our little Cannon picture printer and printed off a bunch of pictures for Donnas Scrapbooking. Then down town for ice cream and Konolies.. We also made Thanksgiving Dinner reservations for a Resort Resturant in the Haulapia Mountains. Thursday Thanksgiving Day! We went to the resort for our Thanksgiving dinner and saw a bunch of Cow and Calf Elk around the restaurant. Very nice resort and a great Dinner.

Hoover Dam Day #13. 22 NOV.

Starting our day!!! 54 Degrees and SUNNY..
These are pictures of our set up here in Kingman AZ. On our way to see the Hoover.....
Our Hoover Dam trip was just great... We made the 70+ mile trip and spent a couple of hours driving around the Dam area and stopping at the over looks and other areas to see all we could see.. We stopped some on the way and took lots of pictures while we were letting Pacer our to stretch. Pacer had a good day and is wore plumb out tonight. Then back the 70+ miles and off to have a bite to eat at in and out burgers, not to shabby food. Back to the RV and a little house keeping in and out and in for the night. Tomorrow will be a day of Thanking God for all he has done and dose for us by going to Church and RESTING..

Days 9-11 NOV 19-21 Meteor Crater

We had a good time in Albuqeuqe and traveled on the 19th to just West of Winslow AZ to the Meteor Crater. Day one we just set up and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the RV park. The park was very well kept up and out in no were, so it was just great. Day two Pacer and I got out early morning and took a long walk down a trail that follows old hwy 66 out through the desert. Pacer had a great time trying to work out rabbits, he was worn out when we got back. Donna and I had breakfast and then headed up the road six miles to the Meteor Crater site. The Museum and site were real neat we spent the better part of four hours checking the place out. Back to the RV and had a good afternoon just getting ready to hit the road tomorrow, and off to Kingman AZ.

Day #3 & #4 Running from the COLD!!! 12th and 13th

We are up early and the tempeture is 14 degrees and a good wind.. Walk faster Pacer........ I was ready to leave Amerillo for sure. We did hear two Great Horned Owels all night and saw them this morning, was pretty neat getting to see and hear them. We did get off and on the road by 0815 and headed west to Albuquerque and Kirtland AFB. Down the road about an hour and crossed over into the Mountain time zone and back to 0815 how great is that?. The drive went real well and we only stopped one time to let Pacer walk. As we got close to our stopping point we decided to fuel up before we got to Kirtland as we are going to spend at leased a week here. Directions to the FAMCAMP on Kirtland were good but after pulling through the VERY Tight Gate, I decided to miss the turn and off throughout the middle of the base do we go all 60 plus foot of us, not a real good fuzzy feeling trying to find a place to turn around but we did and got checked in at around 12:30. As we got to the park and out to check in we realized just how hard the wind was blowing and how COLD it was here. Got set up and in for a rest, the wind was blowing so hard it was rocking the RV. Took Pacer out for a walk and low and behold this place is FULL of sand briars very hard on his feet and my hands. Down to 19 degrees but the wind stopped blowing so all is good. Went out to hook up to the water and fill our tank and found that our neighbor had left his hose hooked up and caused the faucet to be frozen. I had to thaw the faucet in order to get our water but was able to get it done. Pacer and I went out mid morning walk and on our return saw water poring out the side of the RV at the back of the refrigerator. Panicked of course but soon found that the inlet water valve for the ice maker had failed. Pulled old part and found one at Camping World. Donna and I went to CW and got the valve stopped and had a good lunch at Red Robin then home. I replaced the valve and only had to go out to Home Depo 1 time to complete the job. All is well and we have ice a making. OH I for got last night I messed with the tv's till I finally got the over air antenna to work so TV... YEA?...

Day #2 11 NOV

Great day traveling, 295 miles, clear and not as windy as yesterday. Drive went really well and seemed very fast. We arrived at Oasis RV park in Amarillo TX. At about 1:30 PM and after registering for our site we had our propane tank filled. While setting up in our site Donna walked Pacer. Pacer had a better day and rested some while we were traveling, he has a bad habit of staying up and standing most of the trip out of worry. The local weather has it getting down to around 12 degrees tonight. We will be ready to get out of here tomorrow and head to warmer weather WEST Albiqurqie NM. Looking Forward to tomorrow!!!

Windy Day on the Road

Day One we drove 291 miles, home to Shawnee OK. Started out as a wonderful day, weather sunny and nice then about 90 miles from Shawnee the wind started to blow so hard that it was unrolling the living area slide awning as we were rolling down the road. What a scary thing to be going down the freeway at 65 MPH and your awning start flapping in the wind.. Just so happened that we were going to fuel up anyway so we pulled off and got fuel and let me get pulled back together!! Took on about 108 gal and the wind was so bad we decided to try and head down the road to a rest area so Pacer could walk some and I was going to see more about the awning. We did find a rest area just up the road and as it turned out we were pulled in with the awning side to the back of the wind and I was able to check it out. We started back on the road and got to the RV park in Shawnee at about 4:00. We pulled in and there were only three other coaches in the park at that time and low and behold they were ALL Foretravels. Just crazy but pretty cool. We got our selfs hooked up and then walked Pacer. Donna and I went in to register our site and then had dinner. Very hard to believe but we were both in the sack buy 8:00PM. The tempature was in the 70's and we had the air on when we went to bed and in the 30's when we woke up and you bet we had the HEAT on.. Well today were are off to Amarillo TX for the night. Hope this note finds all our Loved ones and freinds doing well.

Tomorrow is our take off!

As we finish up our packing we are both sad and excited about our trip? We know we will miss our family so very much as well as all our friends But we feel we need to make these trips and take this time now while we can, as we grow older with every passing year and have no idea what the next day brings much less the next year. So in the morning with our family's and friends in our minds and hearts we will start down the road on another adventure West. We will try and keep up with this Bolg to keep everyone up to date as to where we are and what we are up too.
